A Vision for Life sciences in Scotland: Accelerating Growth and Driving Innovation
In Scotland, life sciences employs almost 40,000 people in more than 700 different organisations – and adds £2 billion in annual economic value to the Scottish economy.
But how do we take it on to the next level?
Join all the main industry players at this full-day event, to help draw up an action plan to move Scotland’s 2017 Life Sciences Strategy forward. Everyone in the life sciences community needs to be there.
The Life Sciences Strategy, launched in February, aims to harness the outstanding achievements of the sector and to create a blueprint to take it through to 2025. How do we create more jobs, more successful businesses, and add more economic value in Scotland?
Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy and Dave Tudor of GSK – co-chairs of the Life Sciences Scotland Industry Leadership Group – will outline the opportunities and challenges.
Industry leaders will then suggest what they think should be done in the four major areas identified by the life sciences strategy:
• Sustainable production
• Innovation and commercialisation
• The business environment
• Internationalisation and building global markets
After lunch, delegates will be invited to attend facilitated discussions on two of the four key areas. Each discussion aims to identify what actions are needed to best support the future growth of the life sciences industry in Scotland. These actions will be fed back to the main conference hall, and form the basis of a final panel discussion of senior industry leaders.
