Take the first step towards developing your own social business!

  • Live in Wester Ross?
  • Have a business idea that could positively impact your local community or environment?

Get help to get it off the ground! We’re looking for applicants for our Wester Ross Start-Up School - an exciting programme of support for people who want to set up a social business. Social enterprises trade like any other business, but at their core they have a social purpose, reinvesting profits to deliver social, community or environmental benefits. Your idea doesn’t have to be fully formed - our job is to help you develop it, bring it to life and create a lasting impact.

What’s on offer?

  • A fully funded 18-month programme of support
  • A mix of face-to-face workshops, coaching and mentoring, plus some online learning
  • A flexible approach designed to fit around any existing commitments
  • The chance to be part of a network of like-minded people, based both in the Highlands and Islands and abroad
  • Open to anyone with a social business idea, regardless of age, education, employment – or anything else!
  • The Wester Ross Start-Up School starts in January 2020.

Find out if it's right for you

Our friendly and informal taster session is for anyone who wants to find out more. Social Enterprise Academy and HIE will be there to tell you about the programme; you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your thoughts with us – and there’s no obligation to sign up.
