“Employee ownership allows us to focus on creating long-term value for our employees, our customers and our partners”. Dennis Overton, Founder & MD Aquascot.

Highlands-based, sustainable seafood business Aquascot began life in 1987. By 2000, the firm had grown significantly, and requiring further investment to continue that growth, sold to a multinational food and farming business. The founders organised a buy-back in 2003. In 2008, they chose employee ownership to ensure the company’s long-term future lay in the local area and remained true to the original vision of provenance, sustainability and collaboration.

Meet the business, tour their factory and hear from founder and Managing Director Dennis Overton, who proposed the move to employee ownership.

This is the first in a series of five events, visiting Scottish businesses that chose employee ownership to solve their succession issue.
