The Scottish Proposal Application Fund (SPAF) encourages research and technological development by Scottish businesses, particularly SMEs, by providing assistance in the form of a grant to help applicants develop project proposals for submission to the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).

Up to 50 per cent of eligible costs associated with the development and preparation of the FP7 proposal can be granted (staff time, travel and subsistence, consultancy).

 Priorities

• to stimulate the capacity of businesses in the Highlands & Islands to participate in FP7
• to help businesses overcome the barriers and challenges faced in developing proposals
• to increase the number of successful proposal submissions to FP7 from the Highlands & Islands
