Lochaber covers over 2,000 square miles of the west Highlands of Scotland. It is an area of great diversity - the seclusion of the Small Isles contrasting with the busy tourist centre of Fort William - but remains a distinct region, long recognised as Lochaber.

It represents a lesson in integration which HIE Lochaber is increasingly applying to its operation, endeavouring to merge services such as training, finance and property into one integral development package. When assisting a company or providing property, HIE Lochaber now urges the company to invest in training.
