Intermediary Technology Institutes
Intermediary Technology Institutes (ITIs) are operating divisions of ITI Scotland Ltd and were set up in 2003 by Scottish Enterprise with the support of the Scottish Executive to drive Scotland’s ambitious plans to identify and commercialise valuable technology-based intellectual assets across three global market sectors: digital media and communications; life sciences and energy. These are known as ITI Techmedia, ITI Life Sciences and ITI Energy. Their R&D programme activity is centred around core technology areas, moreover, further technology opportunities continue to be identified and appraised on an ongoing basis and new markets are also the subject of continuing exploration.

They aim is to bridge the gap between publicly-funded early stage research and privately-backed commercial development. ITI Scotland was provided with a significant budget from Scottish Enterprise to fund research and development over a ten-year period. ITI Scotland’s activities are intended to help stimulate and benefit the Scottish economy, contributing to a high-value, knowledge economy over the long term.

Find out more about their R&D programmes on the websites for ITI Techmedia, ITI Life Sciences and ITI Energy.
