The importance of customer feedback cannot be underestimated in shaping future plans and business operations, no matter what type of tourism operation you run. And putting this best practice into effect at its £7million flagship sports centre in Stornoway is Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
For the local authority in the Outer Hebrides has launched a customer feedback system to gather the views of visitors to Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais (Lewis Sports Centre).
The staff team have worked together over the past month to devise a feedback form to offer customers the opportunity to give their opinion on using the facility. This ranges from the welcome and information provided on arrival, the friendliness of staff to more practical, yet important aspects of the experience like the cleanliness of the facility.
Principal Officer for Sport and Health, Emma MacSween commented: “we hope the feedback from our customers will help us become more focused on the service we provide. The feedback will give us a clearer understanding of how we are perceived by our customers and give us a focus for the future and the improvements we need to make to the service we offer.”
The staff are hopeful they can rely on their regular users and visitors of the centre to aid them in improvement and ask for facility users to look out for the feedback cards, complete one and pop it into the boxes placed around the centre.
Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais is a dual-use Sports Centre for schools and the public. Among the facilities are a swimming pool, steam room, health suite, fitness centre, squash courts, an indoor climbing wall, soft play, games hall, an all weather pitch, running track and dance studio.
