Luca Garavoglia, Chairman of Gruppo Campari, which acquired Glen Grant in 2006, and Philip Riddle, Chief Executive of VisitScotland, opened the attraction before attending a special dinner celebrating the success of the two-year investment of more than half a million pounds. Luca Garavoglia said: “I am delighted to be opening the new visitor centre here in Rothes today. At almost twice the size of the old centre, the new facility provides ample space in which visitors can enjoy tours of the distillery and gardens, take part in tasting sessions, and perhaps indulge in a little shopping! “As a five star graded visitor attraction, Glen Grant Distillery is committed to promoting tourism in Speyside and to ensuring that a visit to the area is an unforgettable experience. We look forward to the next phase of the development which will see the conversion of old visitor centre into a small coffee shop – a much needed facility in Rothes.” VisitScotland’s Philip Riddle added: “This is a great achievement for Glen Grant, and very exciting for the whole area. It is a great honour to be here to open the centre. Moray already has a strong reputation for distilleries, and this new visitor centre at Glen Grant will enhance the area’s status as Scotland’s ‘whisky country’. “Whisky trails fulfil a very important market in Scottish tourism, particularly in terms of our international visitors, and I’m confident that investment such as this world class visitor centre will not only add to the trail experience in Moray, but also improve seasonality and help the tourism industry realise its ambitious growth target." | |
