The latest brochure from VisitOrkney is now available in audio CD thanks to a collaboration between VisitOrkney and the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). Keen to ensure that Orkney is enjoyed by all, the tourism agency approached RNIB and requested that they record the brochure in an audible format, so that visually impaired people could find out about all that the islands offer to visitors.
Marketing Executive for VisitOrkney, Carly Simpson, explains: “Audio guides are an excellent means of ensuring that everyone can find out about Orkney and all that it offers as a holiday destination. We produce guides in print, so why not in audio format as well?
“We gave the printed brochure to the RNIB and asked them to record the contents onto an audio CD, and made sure that all pronunciations and local dialect words were correct – they’ve done a fantastic job.”
The VisitOrkney audio CD will be available on the VisitOrkney website, www.visitorkney.com, and also on request, by contacting the VisitOrkney office on 01856 872001.
