Tourism Innovation Day 08

Tourism Innovation Day 08
22 January 2008

The growing reliance on technology by the tourism sector is the theme for Tourism Innovation Day 08 next month.

The setting is Hampden Park - a venue that is no stranger to inspiring people - on Thursday, February 28. No matter whether you are an early adopter or a techie laggard, the Tourism Innovation Group say the event is sure to fire up those attending.

A number of high profile tourism leaders will be speaking, supplementing the new workshop format planned to allow interaction with technology providers who understand the challenges and opportunities of the tourism industry. The workshops will also provide an opportunity to benefit from the experience of like-minded tourism businesses who use technology to develop their business via applications such as yield management, ticketing, mapping, market research, customer intelligence, guest or visitor retention as well as the web for marketing and online distribution.

Among the heavyweight keynote speakers confirmed so far are:
· Ben Vinod - Chief Innovator / Vice President at Sabre Holdings, the parent of brands including: HolidayAutos.com, Lastminute.com, and the travel review site IgoUgo.com;
· Paul Sloane - Founder of destination-innovation.com, a business innovation consultancy. He is an expert on innovation, lateral thinking and leadership and has authored 17 books with sales of over two million copies.

Tourism Innovation Day, co-sponsored by HIE, is run by the Tourism Innovation Group; a collection of some 50 tourism businesses from across Scotland whose aim is to stimulate the uptake of technology in tourism. See www.tourisminnovationday.com for further details.
