Sony is to release the Skype software update for the PSP at the end of January. But the new functionality will only be available for ‘Mark Two’ PSP handhelds manufactured after September 2007. To use Skype, PSP owners will also require a Memory Stick Duo, a wireless internet connection and a Skype compatible headset or handset. As with a conventional computer set up, PSP users will be able to make free calls to other registered Skype users and low cost calls to fixed-line and mobile phones by purchasing Skype credits. The Skype roll out on the PSP follows on deals struck last year to introduce instant messaging services and video downloads via the internet to PSP users. | |
