The Isle of Arran is proving popular with both visitors and the Swedish media as VisitScotland promote the wonderful Isle of Arran throughout their marketing activity.

The VisitScotland Isle of Arran Visitor Guide is proving so popular stocks are at an all time low and weekly monitoring of the number of guides available is being undertaken. The ever-popular visitor guides are distributed free of charge through local Tourist Information Centres, in response to telephone and web enquiries, at exhibitions and various other channels. The aim of the guide is to encourage visitors to tour the region more widely and increase the length of their stay by highlighting what there is to see and do in the area.

Irene Noble, Business Relationship Manager for VisitScotland Ayrshire & Arran said: “This is brilliant news for businesses who have taken up the opportunity to appear within the fantastically popular Isle of Arran Visitor Guide. The guide is an essential tool for visitors, giving lots of area information and more importantly, helping them to plan what to see and do during their visit.”

With joint working between the national and local offices of VisitScotland a press trip was organised for a top Swedish travel magazine with the focus on raising awareness of Arran’s accessibility for Short-Breaks to the Swedish market, as well as highlighting things to see and do within Loch Lomond, Monachyle Mhor and Perthshire.

The press trip aimed to encourage people to visit Arran and experience great food, service and culture offered by a multitude of award winning hotels, restaurants and visitor attractions. The press trip incorporated visits to Arran Brewery, Goatfell, Brodick Castle, Lochranza, Lamlash Bay, Whiting Bay as well as local businesses including Arran Adventure Company, Auchrannie House Hotel, and Kilmichael Country House Hotel.

Sweden’s leading glossy travel magazine, RES, circulation 45,000, has since featured a story on Arran worth £39,750.

Irene Noble continues: “We were delighted to welcome the journalists into our area and keen to show off Arran to its best. The coverage we have received is terrific and proves the benefit of working with the media.

“Arran is a wonderful place to visit throughout the year with its breathtaking landscape; we hope that as many people as possible will choose a break in Arran as a result of the Isle of Arran Visitor Guide and RES magazine feature.”
