Skye and Raasay - e-communities survey
07 November 2007

Local communities in Skye and Raasay are being invited to participate in the 'e-communities project ' - aiming to help the community sector of the Highlands and Islands develop their knowledge, skills and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to enable community groups and organisations become more efficient and effective.

A research survey is being undertaken by MacLeod Research Ltd, commissioned by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and in partnership with Skye and Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisations.

Community groups will also have the opportunity to participate in in-depth consultations and workshops.

The project will focus on three areas:

  • Improved communication and the exchange of information
  • Freeing up of valuable resources, such as time, cost and environmental impacts
  • Stimulating and celebrating new and better ways of working, innovation and best practice

The Isles of Skye and Raasay have been selected as an area to champion the project. Responses will help inform a future strategy for engaging communities in ICT across the wider Highlands and Islands.
