Skills Development Scotland
Euroskills registration dates
05 October 2007

Dear All,

I thought I would drop you a note with key registration dates for the 6 skill areas where the UK home to compete in Rotterdam 2008. The attached 'WorldSkills UK 2008: Call for Entries' brochure also includes the competitions and the deadlines on page 7.

The brochure outlines the registration dates for garden design and Fashion Design as 1 October which is now in the past. However, I have been advised that this is flexible. I would therefore encourage you to register your competitors for these competitions by 19 October 2007. This is also the registration deadline for IT Office Team Challenge and also Cook and Serve. The deadline for Team Clean Challenge is 30 September 2007 and I expect there is flexibility in this date also.

I will e-mail again when UK Skills have confirmed the dates and venues for the other selection competitions as well as disseminating the competition briefs when released. At present the only date confirmed is the IT Office Team Challenge at Barnfield College, Luton ( 22-23 November 2007). This requires a team of 4 covering (Open Source, Cisco, Microsoft and a Project Manager at SVQ3 or above). The team do not currently need to be working/studying in the same place.

Registration should be made at skillschallenge@uskills.org.uk. I know the timescales are unsatisfactory and it is difficult to commit without knowing what will be required. This has been raised with the UK Skills and will also be raised again with the new Chief Executive, Simon Bartley, who took up post on Monday. However, it is easier to register possible interest now and then withdraw later than the other way around.

Thank you all for your continued support and please let me know if you have any queries. Also, I'd like to let you all know that Fiona is no longer working on skills competitions work but has now moved to a new post within the team so she hasn't gone far (no pun intended!).

Best wishes,
