Mycourse celebrate fifth birthday
25 September 2007

Mycourse training, based in Elgin, Moray is celebrating its fifth year of trading this week and is holding two open days on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th of September from 10.00am until 4.00pm. The company has come a long way since it was formed in 2002 by Jim and Sharon Chambers, who started with delivery of the ECDL and a web-based, interactive Sage training course. The company soon became a Learndirect Scotland (LDS) branded centre and its elearning catalogue now forms a strong part of the Mycourse training portfolio.

Mycourse now specialises in distance learning courses for Sage and Book-keeping. More recently, funding for the development of IT technical ‘Boot Camps’ was gained from LDS which has led to the company diversifying into computer network installations and support and maintenance. “Jim says: at times it has been a hard slog and like many small businesses, on occasion we’ve come close to closing due to the difficulties of attracting profitable business. We’ve gone through that phase and we now employ two more people of which we are very proud.” The company recently gained an award at the learning centre conference in Glasgow for its work in ‘Enhancing learning through Technology’.

Visitors are welcome to call in – Friday has a business focus, with Saturday open to all. There are free prize draws, free courses, special offers in the IT department and of course, home bakes and as much tea/coffee as you like. Also on display is a collection of computer equipment from the ‘80s to the current day, when you can try out some ‘retro’ games and find out how computing used to be like. Of course, you’ll also find a vast amount of information available about training courses and technology solutions !
