More exchanges to be upgraded
21 September 2007

Two Highland local exchanges are to be fully upgraded for broadband and seven others given additional Exchange Activate capacity, it has emerged.

No dates for the upgrading work have been announced yet, but the two local exchanges destined for full broadband capability - including 8Mbps ADSL - are Dundonnell and Dunbeath. The ten exchanges earmarked for additional Exchange Activate DSLAM hardware are Applecross, Burravoe, Colintraive, Jura, Loch Scavaig, North Roe and Stromeferry.

Meanwhile, work has fallen behind on the broadband upgrades to the Birsay, Fern, Uig and Vidlin local exchanges. They had been scheduled to go live with broadband in August.
