Moray businesses eligible for Northern Lights
12 September 2007

Tourism businesses in Moray are eligible to enter the Northern Lights Tourism Awards, the closing date for which is October 26.

Established in 2003, the Northern Lights Tourism Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in the tourism industry throughout Aberdeen City and Shire, and Moray. A full list of the award categories is available on the VisitScotland site. (Download the entry form.)

One of the two Moray-specific award categories – Customer Service – is sponsored by HIE Moray. This category is open to any tourism business that can demonstrate the business benefits from implementing a customer service initiative. The judging panel will be looking in particular at the delivery of the initiative, the customer feedback and monitoring processes used to evaluate service standards, and future plans for enhancing high standards of customer care.

Sponsored by Moray Council, the Moray Tourism Initiative award is open to individuals, community groups and businesses. It looks to recognise a real, demonstrated passion for tourism. The judging panel will be looking for high quality products, services, or initiatives that have significantly contributed to attracting visitors to the area, increased visitors’ enjoyment and improved the ‘visitor experience’, or made a contribution to the development of the area’s tourism industry.

Most of the other award categories are awarded on a non-geographic basis. Shortlisted entrants will be notified by: Friday, November 16, with the winners being announced at the North East Scotland Tourism Industry Conference at the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa, Pitfodels, Aberdeen on Monday November 26, 2007
