Who would have thought it - broadband on your moby for less than the price of dial up internet access?
Bizarre as it sounds, mobile phone operator 3 has announced details of an add-on broadband deal, starting at £5 per month, offering speeds of up to 2.8Mbps to pay monthly price plan customers. The new broadband products, scheduled to launch on September 4, should be available in a large swathe of the Highlands and Islands that currently enjoys video coverage on the 3 network.
The £5 per month (inc. VAT) mobile broadband package has a monthly bandwidth allowance of 1Gb, but even so is still around £7 to £8 per month cheaper – and much faster - than the normal monthly 56k dial up internet access fees. Even 3’s higher spec broadband package of up to 3Gb is less expensive at £10 per month.
Until now the cheapest mobile broadband in the UK was T-Mobile’s 1.8Mbps Web'n'Walk service at £23.40 per month, capped at 3GB a month.
