BT is offering a limited free trial of their new web-based electronic signature service aimed at small and medium-sized businesses.
Fully compliant with the UK Electronic Signatures Act and the USA’s E-SIGN Act, which give electronic contracts the same weight as those executed on paper, the new service is intended to significantly reduce the amount of time it takes companies to get documents signed.
BT eSignature allows companies to get documents electronically signed in seconds, without the need for paperwork to be posted or faxed back. Accessible from any browser, BT eSignature, unlike virtual fax or other e-signature software, automates the entire contracting process from requesting a signature to the distribution and filing of the signed agreement.
Users of the service can instantly see which documents are awaiting signature and which have been signed, when and by whom. It also automatically converts documents into PDF format and distributes them to all elected parties. In addition, copies of all signed contracts are automatically stored and backed-up in the BT eSignature user’s account without the need for any customer input.
Bill Murphy, managing director of BT Business, said: “Contracts are the lifeblood of any company, so delays in getting them signed can have a detrimental effect on businesses. There are also the issues associated with filing and archiving contracts to meet regulatory requirements, which create real headaches for businesses of all sizes.
“What we’re giving customers is a way to dramatically speed up the process of getting contracts signed, whilst making sure that final documents are filed and protected – all over the internet, with minimum effort.”
BT Business is offering users a free five signature trial, then has two versions of the service: BT eSignature Pro, which offers unlimited sending and signing for £19.95 (excl VAT) per user per month, and BT eSignature Team, designed for companies with more than five users that gives unlimited sending and signing, with additional branding and team working capabilities for £29.95 (excl VAT) per user per month.
