| 08 June 2007 Last night, (Thursday 7 June) at a reception at Castle Wynd, Inverness, it was announced that Robbie Graham from South Queensferry won the Highland Exposure photography competition and he was presented with the grand prize of £250. The photograph competition has been organised by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and Distance Lab - the digital media and communication technologies research institute. Robbie's winning photograph is of the Ptarmigan Apartment in the Lagganlia Outdoor Centre near Feshiebridge in the Cairngorms which captures a spectacular shot of which encapsulates the distance theme. Five further entrants last night also received 'honorary mentions' with £100 awards. They were Dave Allison from Tain, Andrew Macdonald from Hampshire, Colin Campbell from Kiltarlity and his brother Paul Campbell from Inverness and Tim Riches who lives in the Isle of Lewis. The exhibition will be displayed in a temporary gallery space next to the Tourist Information Centre on Bridge Street, Inverness until Sunday 17 June, and open to the public, free of charge. The judges were looking for the most stunning and inventive expressions of 'distance' in a contemporary Highlands and Islands context, with some sort of connection to Highland 2007's main themes: arts, environment, heritage, language, science and sport. Those coming to the exhibition will have the opportunity to leave feedback for individual photographers by recording audio messages. Marty Bell from Beauly won the young photographer category for his photo of the Leanig in Ross-shire. All the work submitted to the competition will be displayed on an innovative digital interface developed by Distance Lab - more than 750 photographs taken by more than 200 people with a digital camera and a creative eye.
