Highland Exposure on show

Highland Exposure on show
07 June 2007

Entries for the prestigious digital photography competition, Highland Exposure go on show from today (Thursday) in Inverness.

The free exhibition, in temporary gallery space next to the Bridge Street Tourist Information Centre on the upper level walkway, opens to the public at 11 am and will run daily until Sunday, June 17. The gallery exhibition opening precedes an invitation-only reception this evening when the competition winner will be officially announced and presented with the £250 first prize. Five other entrants will receive ‘honorary mentions’ of £100.

All the work submitted to the competition will be reproduced on an innovative digital display developed by Distance Lab, a new research institute for digital media and communication technologies, that organised Highland Exposure in conjunction with Highlands and Islands Enterprise. More than 750 photographs taken by over 200 people with a digital camera and a creative eye were submitted to the competition.

The judges have been looking for the most stunning and inventive expressions of 'distance' in a contemporary Highlands and Islands context, with a connection to Highland 2007's main themes: arts, environment, heritage, language, science and sport. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to leave feedback for individual photographers by recording audio messages.
