The following text summarises a complaint made against HIE to the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO).

The complainant said that he was misled by the local enterprise company Inverness and Nairn Enterprise (INE), which gave assurances that funding would be made available to the company he represents. The application was subsequently refused, which the complainant claimed led to financial losses for the company.
