The Highlands and Islands have featured heavily among the inaugural winners of EatScotland’s newly launched awards scheme.
Only 40 establishments in the whole of Scotland have been declared as EatScotland Silver Award winners, with over 40 per cent being located in the HIE network area. The awards are acknowledgement of the high standards of cuisine, service and the overall eating out experience, and a major milestone towards achieving EatScotland’s top Gold Award.
EatScotland say the Silver and Gold Award scheme recognises outstanding standards in dining out across Scotland be they Michelin restaurants or cafes, tea rooms or the local chippie. The much-anticipated scheme has been launched in a bid to boost standards in eating establishments across Scotland and celebrate excellence, and ultimately boost tourism by changing perceptions of Scottish cuisine on a worldwide scale. Further Silver Awards will be issued to new winners throughout the year as assessments are completed.
Silver Awards will reflect an establishment’s high standards in terms of the overall eating out experience, including the food, the ambience and the service.
EatScotland Director and Award-winning chef Kevin MacGillivray said: “I am extremely excited about announcing the winners. This Award scheme will motivate the industry to strive in this positive direction, and celebrate excellence in the eating out scene.
