| 15 May 2007 Pool House, a top class hotel on the shores of Loch Ewe, has enhanced its high-status reputation with the addition of three sumptuous suites. The award-winning Pool House is a unique Victorian time-capsule, which has succeeded in merging the opulent character of the hotel with the sophisticated needs of modern day travellers. HIE Skye and Wester Ross development manager, Raine MacLennan said: "We are delighted to have assisted Pool House in further developing its reputation as a world class destination. "The expansion will significantly improve turnover, competitiveness and sustainability of this exclusive hotel, and ensure that Wester Ross continues to attract the top end of the tourism market". Making the most of its colourful history, the hotel comes complete with curiosities such as its extraordinary Victorian canopied bath and shower, which stands over eight feet high and offers side jet, spray and overhead shower. Built in the late 19th century the hotel has, in its time, been a former home of the clan MacKenzie, a courthouse and as a military headquarters during World War II. Since 1991, the Harrison family have been passionate in their efforts to create a luxurious lodge befitting its majestic surroundings. Greatly reducing the number of rooms, to place an emphasis on superior quality, they have painstakingly refurbished the hotel to its former glory. Mrs Harrison said: "The concept of luxury, comfort and tranquillity for pure relaxation is fast becoming the new chic. By combining the dramatic outdoor landscapes of Wester Ross - often called 'the last great wilderness of Europe' - with stylish interiors and top quality service, we offer history, romance and magnificent scenery all in one romantic location". | |
