A new broadband TV site for the Outer Hebrides is scheduled to go live in June. The hebrides.tv project is designed to showcase the best in video content about, for and created by Hebrideans.
Currently, the online TV site is in the process of gathering video content ranging from local events, drama, activities, concerts, craft demonstrations, business information or documentaries. And it has been suggested, too, that hebrides.tv could offer local island businesses an innovative way to promote their business.
Funded by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, HIE Innse Gall and LEADER +, the mission ethos of hebrides.tv is to “provide a positive and friendly place to post Hebridean content.” Primarily the audience will be a local one, but it is hoped the large number of island expats around the world will be tuning in to keep up to date with events at home. It is also planned that hebrides.tv will act as a platform to promote the best of the environment, produce and culture of the islands to the outside world.
“Hebridean content” is defined for video submitters as content with a Hebridean theme or content generated by users living in the Hebrides.
