Let's talk renewables

Let's talk renewables

The second edition of a magazine aimed at raising public awareness of renewable energy issues will be dropping through letterboxes across the Highlands and Islands over the coming weeks.

Called Let's Talk Renewables and commissioned by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), as part of a wider campaign, the publication aims to provide information about renewable energy and the types of schemes that are currently being explored in the region.

In an easy-to-read twelve-page format, the magazine is aimed at all ages and features articles and stories covering a range of technologies and case studies. And 'The Renewables' are also back, this time with a kid’s competition.

Elaine Hanton, head of renewable energy at HIE explained: "Whatever views people have on individual schemes, renewable energy is recognised worldwide as providing a vital contribution to the future of our planet. The geography of the Highlands and Islands is naturally suited to many renewable schemes, but it is essential that people living here feel they are sufficiently informed to make choices about developments as they progress.

"We hope this second edition of the magazine will provide some answers to the questions people may have about renewable energy following on from the first edition and indicate where further information can be obtained.”
