Tourism Innovation Day - Collaboration: Achieving Together

Tourism Innovation Day - Collaboration: Achieving Together
05 February 2007

The fifth annual Tourism Innovation Day takes place later this month in Edinburgh and looks set to be bigger and better than ever before.

Some of the most inventive tourism operators in Europe will be on hand to share their knowledge and experiences, including Tim Smit, founder of the award-winning Eden Project on how his team has welcomed nearly seven
million visitors since the attraction opened its doors in 2000.

Visitors to the Tourism Innovation Day will be also able to discover how best to grow their business through innovative practices and a collaborative approach.

A number of new features for this year's Tourism Innovation Day event have been confirmed:

  • TNS Travel and Tourism will be unveiling the results of a UK omnibus survey which asked people if they are concerned about the environmental impact of their tourism visit.  TNS are the worlds largest provider of custom research and analysis.
  • Lightershade will be offering all attendees a free prize draw -  the chance to win an in-depth web site review worth 1000. Lightershade is a digital agency who develop dynamic web applications for some of Europe's leading companies.
  • Geoff Ellis (DF Concerts), the T in the Park impresario, tells how he has successfully attracted new audiences to Scotland.
  • Gerben Baaij, the driving force behind Rembrandt 400,  explains how the collaborative initiative has helped radically develop tourism in the Amsterdam area in 2006.
  • Market Intelligence - Be the first to hear fresh thinking from VisitScotland describing key domestic target markets for 2008 and beyond.  This session is supported by the new Tourism Intelligence Unit - how should you adapt your products to meet changing needs?
  • Collaboration Best Practice - Get inspired, gain new insights and discover fresh new ways to grow your business by working with others: practical advice from Pitlochry Festival Theatre on their successful Partnership programme; imaginative and progressive Scotland Whisky initiatives; Aviemore and Cairngorm Destination Management and an opportunity for detailed questions to Dr. Baaij of Rembrandt 400.

Previous events have been well received. Among the comments from last years participants were:

"Lots of energy, variety, imagination, some real gems of ideas a stimulating event."

"Even better than last year's event superb range of speakers and the networking was first class."
