How can tourism businesses make more money from the internet? Find out over the coming months at a series of workshops being held across the HIE network area from January 23.
The Scottish Tourism Forum’s popular series of Highlands and Islands e-commerce workshops - in partnership with Highlands and Islands Enterprise, VisitScotland and VisitScotland.com - return this year, with a programme of events launching on January 23 in Tarbert, Loch Fyne.
Aimed at optimising revenue from e-business and the web, the workshops, costing just £25 including buffet lunch, are excellent value events that will help your business make the most out of its web presence.
Says the Scottish Tourism Forum: “Whatever stage you are at and whether you are an accommodation provider or involved in marketing, these workshops are designed to help you to make more money from the internet. The value-packed workshops include business case studies, an exploration of support in your area, a look at the current market with insights into current consumer trends and a question and answer session.”
Steps are also in place to ensure the workshops are pitched at the right level for the participants. When booking, participants will be sent out a pre-event self-evaluation form to assess their business and inform the workshop organizers of where they want to go with e-commerce and what potential barriers are faced. By completing this form, the workshop can be tailored for individual businesses.
Experts from organisations including HIE, VisitScotland and VisitScotland.com will be available at the workshops. And built into each workshop are one-to-one sessions (pre-bookable or bookable on the day) that allow individual businesses to spend 15 minutes with chosen speakers to get answers for their detailed queries.
Of course, workshops are as also about sharing, and so it will prove helpful to meet other businesses and hear their experiences of web development. Meantime, find out how to use newsfeeds on your web site.
The timing for all events are as follows:

10.30am Welcome
3.00pm Close
Cost: £25 including buffet lunch.
