| HIE Orkney board appoints new deputy chair | |
| 03 January 2007 Businessman Roy Brown has been appointed deputy chair of the board of HIE Orkney. He takes over from Cameron Taylor who stepped down as deputy chair in November. Mr Brown is originally from Kirkwall where he has lived all his life, working in Orkney. He is the managing director Orkney Aggregates Ltd which took over the quarrying, concrete and haulage divisions from the previous company Orkney Builders in 1999 and has served on the Orkney Enterprise board of directors for two years. Following his appointment, Mr Brown said: "I look forward to working with the staff at HIE Orkney, my fellow directors and our new chairman to ensure that the economic and community life of Orkney continues to prosper and develop. "Having been in business for many years, I feel that I have a lot of experience to offer to the local enterprise company. I also want to involve my fellow directors as much as possible, so that both I and HIE Orkney benefit fully from their wide and varied expertise" HIE Orkney have an active board of unpaid non-executive, locally based directors who are involved in up to ten board meetings each year providing policy, advice and guidance. | |
