| Benefit of broadband for all to see | |
| 27 September 2006 Local businesses and organisations in Shetland who are interested in internet marketing are being invited to attend a seminar to see for themselves the benefit of broadband. The way we access the internet and global connections has a huge impact on the way we work. Broadband offers businesses faster ways of working with 'always on' access, fixed costs and increased efficiency as well as opening up new areas of work. The Internet Marketing seminar takes place on Thursday 5th October at room 12 in the Islesburgh Community Centre. Starting at 7pm, the event will let people find out more about how a website can increase sales by connecting with your customer, the tools that are available and how to measure if it is working. Shetland Enterprise is holding the internet marketing event as part of a broadband pilot scheme that is being delivered by marketing specialists Open Brolly. The seminar will be presented by David Sim who has worked extensively with both large and small businesses throughout the Highlands and Islands. He has helped businesses and organisations use the internet to do business around the world, including bringing film and television work to the UK and Ireland. Katrina Wiseman, Shetland Enterprise said: "Shetland Enterprise is promoting the island as a smart place to do business with decreased overheads and increased quality of life. Access to broadband technologies, whether it is by satellite or wireless, is vital if island businesses are to compete on a level playing field." To register your interest in attending the event, please contact Horizon-Scotland on 01309 678100 and register your name for the Internet Marketing seminar in Lerwick. | |
