Record entries - food for thought
18 September 2006

A total of 90 entries have been submitted for this year's Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards. This is the second year that the awards have been held and the record number of entries have been received from as far afield as Shetland in the north to Arran in the south.

Gary Williamson, managing director of Williamson Foodservice, the main commercial sponsor of this year¹s awards commented: "We¹re delighted to have received a record 90 entries for this year¹s Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards. The wide range of companies who have submitted entries emphasises the important contribution that the food and drink industry makes to our local economy."

Judging will take place next week and the winners will be announced at the awards dinner to be held in the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness on Thursday 5 October.

Tickets are available for the dinner from Shona MacLennan, Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Forum co-ordinator - Tel: 01599 534999 or email: shona@solas-biz.co.uk
