British Urban Regeneration Association Awards
15 August 2006

BURA was formed in 1990 to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, experience and information for the emerging regeneration sector. BURA has now become the leading independent organisation in the field of regeneration. Our strong and influential membership reflects the growing knowledge and expertise that BURA has at its disposal. We are seen by the private sector, the public sector, the not-for-profit sector and government departments alike as a key organisation within the whole area of regeneration.

The BURA Awards for Community Inspired Regeneration celebrate best practice in community inspired and led regeneration through the United Kingdom. They are a Celebration of outstanding grass roots regeneration projects; the schemes that address issues and as a result are contributing to raising community spirit and improving quality of life.

These awards began in 1994, as BURA Charitable Trust Awards for Community Regeneration. Since this time, BURA has been learning lessons in achieving innovative and cost effective sustainability from those delivering it on the ground. This Knowledge helps BURA to inspire and guide the evolution of the regeneration debate.

Nominations for projects or schemes of any size and type located in any part of the UK will be carefully considered providing they can demonstrate a track record of success in:

  • Being inspired by the community;
  • Contributing to raising community spirit;
  • Being accountable and responsive to local stakeholders
  • Addressing issues identified by the local community.
