| 31 July 2006 People in Moray seeking employment in the media sector have been given the opportunity to undergo training to help them achieve their aspirations. The Moray Firth Media Trust's radio broadcasting and contemporary media project will help at least five unemployed people in Moray. Moray Firth Radio (MFR) have managed, developed and delivered the radio broadcast training since 1998 for those who are interested in working in the media sector. The project aims to provide quality vocational training in radio production including presentation, newsgathering and technical operations. The programme will consist of structures courses, on-the-job training and practical work experience. Candidates who complete the programme will be awarded with a VQ in Local Radio Production. Alan Mcdonald, development manager in the developing skills group at HIE Moray, said: "The training undertaken by the individuals will improve their long term employability and provide them with core skills and experience. Moray Firth Radio have been delivering and developing the project for people in the Highlands and Islands for quite a number of years now. They have a wealth of experience in the delivery of radio broadcasting training which they have managed successfully since the outset of the project." Liz McIntyre from MFR's Moray Firth Media Trust said: "We are delighted to be able to help people in the Moray area become involved in the media. Our SVQ course means they have the capability to gain full time employment in the media industry, especially radio which is a fast moving part of the sector." The programme has been supported by HIE Moray, the European Social Fund, HIE Inverness and East Highland, Highland Council, MFR and Awards for All. | |
