Congratulations from top two

Congratulations from top two
21 July 2006

Two of Britain's top politicians have added their congratulations to the By Hands and Feet across Greenland team.

We've just received copies of letters sent to the team by Prime Minister Tony Blair - and Leader of the Opposition David Cameron.

The two short letters read:

From Rt Hon Tony Blair MP, Prime Minister

"Dear Anna

Tony Wright has told me about the groundbreaking crossing of Greenland by your By hands and Feet expedition.

The fact that this involved a paraplegic adventurer makes it a truly remarkable project, which will be an inspiration to many others.

I want to congratulate you and everyone in the team on a magnificent UK achievement. You can feel very proud of your success. Well done!

Yours sincerely, Tony Blair."

... and from the Leader of the Opposition, Rt Hon David Cameron MP

"This is a short note to congratulate everyone for the successful completion of your amazing expedition.

It really is a fantastic achievement.

Congratulations! David Cameron."

It's good to know that our top UK politicians appreciate the team's courage, drive and achievements.

Incidentally, we've also just learned that Anna is back in Iceland, meeting up with the team of Greenlandic girls whom they'd met on the ice.  A mountain race is planned we hear. Bikes and bags are en route.
See: Arctic Team Challenge 2006 website for further details.

Good luck, Anna.

Anna will be sending back some reports to: The Sleepmonsters website where you can also learn about the adventure racing 2007 World Championships to be held in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The race will cover 500km over seven days, in Lochaber - based in Fort William, The Outdoor Capital of the UK. From here teams will explore one of Europe's great wilderness areas, a vast expanse of rugged mountains, deep sea lochs, windswept beaches and cliffs, and offshore islands washed by fierce tides.
