| 09 June 2006 News that two of our team, Anna and Pasi, have found their way safely home - bruised, brown ...and bitten. (Report from Patricia McCormack, Friday 9 June.) We haven't had news from the other team members yet, but here's an email report from Anna's mum, Patricia who lives in Cannock, Staffordshire - just north of Birmingham. "I’m surrounded by yellow bags, kites, pulks, red bags and more - and two extra battle-scarred warriors. I have never seen anyone change from fair-skinned to such a deep dark-brown as Anna is. Pasi, too, the fair Scandinavian, has a peculiar white band from the eyes up, where he was wearing a head cover. Anna’s arms and hands need urgent attention so I’m searching the Yellow Pages for a physio/sports injuries clinic locally. I feel sad now that no one met them at Heathrow. Pasi was left alone with over 20 pieces of baggage while Anna took herself off to fetch her car from Ealing. I saw lots of wonderful pictures and there are lots more to come. I have also picked up lots more information which we didn’t receive for our reports, but some of which I had sensed. I wonder how the other four look and how their home-coming was. I can see lots to be done in the weeks ahead. I just thought I’d let you know that Anna and Pasi are safely here and, oh! ...I think every mosquito in Greenland had a go at Anna. She is just bitten to pieces." ...and a footnote from Anna... Back in Old Blighty "We are all back, safe and sound and have been reading through the blogs on both of our websites. Thanks so much to Pat and Ken for helping us out and doing such an amazing job. Given the broken connections and hearing aid troubles, I can't believe what you guys managed for us. We will try to add some images both into the respective blogs and as a photo gallery within the next few days, so keep checking back. The photos are quite spectacular. We will also try to put up some general comments as we develop them - about our kit, our report, our learnings, some individual thoughts etc etc. Anyway, enough for now. Off to bed."
We look forward, too, to a report from Karen within the coming few days. | |
