Deltoids?

In the team's latest short blog, it was reported that Karen's Deltoid muscle was giving her problems.

The drawing above, sourced from the Wikipedia website, shows that it is one of the main shoulder muscles - connecting the arm to the shoulder.

It is hardly surprising that this muscle is causing difficulties for Karen. She will have been very dependent on it to push herself along on her sit-ski for such a long time - and over such difficult terrain. Now that the team is coming down the last glaciers - with all their bumps, steep slopes and hard ice - more strain than usual will be being placed on the muscle.

We all hope she can manage with the discomfort.

Pigs?

As for 'Percy Pigs' - as mentioned in our last report.... Can anyone enlighten us?

(Patricia McCormack has just informed us, through our messageboard here, "They are little sweets something like jelly babies, pink in colour, and for years have been favourites of Anna's. She put several bags of them in our Christmas stockings last Christmas and rarely do we get past the tills in M & S without adding a few bags of them to our shopping baskets. I guess they are not on the Government's list of healthy options for school meals!")

Weather report

Now that the team has lost both its computer and sat-phone connections, it will be unable to get a weather forecast for the last stage of the journey. This is probably the last forecast we'll publish on this site. We hope the weather is not too hard on the team - it has quite enough to think about as it descends the glacier.
