Marketing guru Nick Oulton is to deliver a talk on 'killer presentations' in Inverness later this month at the invitation of the The Chartered Institute of Marketing.

The CIM, the world's leading professional marketing organisation with members in 130 countries, is set to increase its activities in the Highlands and Islands.

To launch activities, Nick Oulton will be sharing secrets that expensive consultants charge thousands of pounds for at the Marriot Hotel, Inverness, on the evening of April 25. The session will demonstrate how to make a difference to presentations, without needing to learn new skills but by simply remembering some simple ideas. Those attending the event will discover proven methods for landing new clients and obtaining objectives through crafting marketing messages that capture attention.

The CIM has a remit that includes helping to build a network of marketers and disseminating best practice and marketing content amongst the business community.

Douglas Vinton, Chairman CIM Scotland and YC International Chairs Forum, said:
"The business profile of the Highlands and islands is quite unique in that there is a high proportion of micro-businesses and ongoing CIM activity needs to reflect this. Marketing is still a key weakness amongst many businesses in all sectors and we aim to help address this".

The inaugural event is being sponsored by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Joanne Blanusa, senior development manager of business transformation, added: "We are delighted that the CIM has noted our positive regional progress through identifying the need for an enhanced role. We are looking forward to working together to help raise the importance of marketing and better educating our companies with regard to marketing practice. The event on April 25 brings a world class speaker to Inverness who could change the way companies present forever."

The Inverness Marriot Masterclass is expected to be a sell out and is being held in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland. Those interested in attending should call 0131 473 7777 or email info@ciobs.org.uk for further details.
