| E-skills UK award-winning Computer Clubs for Girls (cc4g) | |
| 13 February 2006 E-skills UK is proud to announce the launch of the award-winning Computer Clubs for Girls (cc4g) programme at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday 22nd March. The event will celebrate the rollout of cc4g to all the secondary schools in Fife, following a successful pilot, and will explore ways to roll out the benefits of the programme across Scotland. This launch will demonstrate the measurable benefits of cc4g to employers and the Scottish economy. Cc4g is transforming the attitudes of schoolgirls to positively consider a career in IT – a vital change needed to address the gender imbalance of the IT workforce. Guests, including Peter Peacock, MSP and Minister for Education and Young People; Ann Budge, CEO of Sopra, Newell and Budge; Christine May, MSP and Kenneth Greer, Head of Education at Fife Council, will join the launch. Most importantly, girls from the Fife clubs will be presenting their own impressions of the innovative courseware and how they have been inspired to use IT in creative projects. Due to high demand for this event, places are strictly limited to invitation only. Computer Clubs for Girls (cc4g) is an innovative, award-winning initiative created by e-skills UK and funded by DfES. CC4G raises the standard of girls' ICT skills while transforming girls’ attitudes to careers in IT. For more details, visit the cc4g page on the e-Skills UK website | |
