| Choose to sleep in Scotland from anywhere in the world | |
| 25 January 2006 A Lochaber business woman is encouraging her growing list of clients that no matter where they live, they should sleep in Scotland. Deborah Watson from Morvern makes the claim in a newly created website which promotes and sells her range of Scottish themed bed linen. The fine embroidered and embellished products, sold under the Scottish Linen brand name, are all designed by Deborah. The Egyptian cotton lines are embroidered abroad but the tartan range is made in Ardgour, close to Scottish Linen's base. Thanks to funding of £2,000 by Lochaber Enterprise, part of the Highlands and Islands Enterprise network, the new website has full e-commerce capabilities where users can buy the luxury bed linen online. The company provides bed linen across three themes of nature, tartan and golf, but Deborah plans to extend the range in the months ahead. Bedding sets in snowflake and bluebell designs are due in 2006 and travel pillows featuring Scottie dogs, golf tees and fly fishing will be launched soon. Deborah Watson said: "My Scottish themed bed linen means people can sleep in Scotland no matter where they live in the world. The website is the key to my sales. Since July the number of hits to the site has been growing and I have just won an order to supply my bed linen to a major Canadian retailer. "Although wholesale orders have been a major element of my recent sales, the website is designed to take and process orders from individuals who want that luxury feel with a distinctive Scottish look. The bed linen I produce is becoming increasingly popular with the overseas market and they are great as gifts for expatriate Scots." Lochaber Enterprise is also helping Deborah attend a number of trade shows which have helped increase awareness and sales of the Scottish Linen brand. Chief executive at Lochaber Enterprise Charlotte Wright said: "Assisting more women into business is a high priority as is encouraging the use of e-business. Scottish Linen has created a job for Deborah in a rural area where other employment opportunities are scarce and it helps showcase a high quality product from our area to a global audience."
