Curries for Kashmir
18 October 2005

T

The devastating earthquake that struck areas of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan on October 8 killed at least 38,000 people and left a further 2 million without access to food, shelter and medical care.

Urgent help is getting through thanks to donations already made to the Disasters Emergency Committee but more funds are desperately needed. Winter is fast approaching and tens of thousands of families have no shelter against the freezing weather that will hit the area soon.

Can you help support the survivors whose homes and lives have been devastated by taking part in Curries for Kashmir this weekend?

By eating out in any participating Asian restaurant on Friday 21, Saturday 22 or Sunday 23 of October and making a donation after your meal to the DEC Asia Quake Appeal, you will be helping to bring aid and hope.

As little as £4.30 could buy 15 kilos of rice. £478 could cover the cost of a truck to transport food to isolated communities.

Get your colleagues, friends or family together for a Curry for Kashmir , and bring urgent help to those in need. Book your table now, and email this flyer to your all your contacts.

Asian restaurants all over are participating  - check for the DEC Curries for Kashmir sign in the window of your local restaurant.

You can also donate to the Asia Quake Appeal by calling 0870 60 60 900.
