From October 2004, it is a statutory requirement that all businesses should have disciplinary rules & procedures. Whether you have 1 or 100 employees, these procedures must be followed as a minimum if you are contemplating dismissing an employee or imposing another disciplinary penalty. Failure to follow the statutory procedure, the dismissal will be automatically found unfair at an employment tribunal. Confused? Don’t be!
