The directors of Ross and Cromarty Enterprise (
RACE) today (5/7/05) welcomed Georgina Butterworth to her first board meeting as a youth observer, marking the start of her one-year appointment.
Georgina has just completed her fifth year at Invergordon Academy and will return for sixth year when she will study for Advanced Highers in physics, chemistry, maths and English. After school she would like to become a research scientist in chemistry or physics.
Georgina was born in England, lived in New Zealand for four years and moved to Scotland three years ago. She is also a member of the Highland Youth Voice, which is similar to a youth parliament composed of elected representatives from schools and youth groups across the area.
“I am very much looking forward to working with the RACE board,” Georgina said. “I feel this offers me the opportunity to give my point of view as a young person and to speak on behalf of young people from the area.”
Welcoming her at the board meeting, chairman Clifford Davison said: “It is a great pleasure to welcome Georgina and I look forward to her attendance at future board meetings. I am very keen to hear the views of young people in the community and hope that Georgina finds the experience interesting and valuable."
