| Moray business aims for more awards | |
| 22 February 2005 An award winning Moray business has set its sights on earning further accolades this year. Elgin ten pin bowling alley Bowl 2000, which last year received a Highlands and Islands business award, as well as collecting Hospitality Assured accreditation and four star visitor attraction status, is aiming for similar recognition for its catering. Keen to establish its reputation as a highly regarded eating place, as well as an all-round family entertainment venue, Bowl 2000 recently employed a master chef to lead its kitchen team in developing an attractive and well-priced menu. Owner of the family-run business, Marina McLennan, said: "The last year has been very successful for us as the awards we have received shows. We are very keen to continue developing and repeating that success. "It's now our ambition to see the catering side of the business win an award and we are working hard towards that goal. We have hired a master chef and are making sure other staff involved have all the training they require. We believe there is a real demand in Elgin and the surrounding area for the kind of quality, family-friendly, dining experience we are offering." Situated on Elgin's Moycroft Industrial Estate, Bowl 2000, which employs 30 people, will celebrate its fifth year in operation in September. As part of the business' continuing development, the owners added the popular Lunar Land supervised children's play area last year. Bowl 2000 was awarded Hospitality Assured accreditation, the quality assurance mark for service and business excellence championed by the Hotel and Catering International Management Association and the British Hospitality Association, last October. The awards scheme is promoted and supported by local enterprise company Moray Badenoch and Strathspey Enterprise (MBSE). Douglas Yule, chief executive of MBSE, said: "Bowl 2000 is a great example of a relatively new business, which, having achieved success, is keen to find new ways of building on that, rather than resting on its laurels. "We wish Marina and her team every success in their pursuit of further awards, which clearly demonstrates their commitment to achieving and maintaining the highest standards throughout their business." | |
