Lochaber Enterprise appoints three new directors and a youth observer

Lochaber Enterprise has appointed three new directors and a youth observer to join its board.

Hans-Petter Lange, John Jennett and Paul Brennan who have a wide range of local business experience will be joined by Christine Hall, 17, at the local enterprise company's monthly board meetings.

Christine is currently in her sixth year at Lochaber High School and is also a member of the student council. When she leaves school in June, she intends to go to university to study law.

Hans-Petter, originally from Norway, has worked for Alcan since 1985 in both Norway and Scotland. He is currently works manager at the Fort William site where he has worked since 2003.

John has been managing director of the Freedom of the Glen Family of Hotels since 1998 having first joined the board in 1993. The Company owns the Ballachulish Hotel, the Lodge on the Loch Hotel, Onich, the Isles of Glencoe Hotel and the Oban Caledonian, and employs more than 200 staff. 

He has collected a number of awards on behalf of the hotel group, including a Thistle award for customer care and a Scottish Marketing Award.

Paul Brennan from Ballachulish has lived in Lochaber for over 24 years, and has held a number of senior management positions for nearly 30 years. He is currently the public sector director for Fujitsu Services in Scotland.

Before taking up his current post, he worked for The Highland Council as a senior consultant and Lochaber District Council as depute director of finance and head of IT. Paul also runs a self-catering business in Ballachulish and is a member of the Highlands of Scotland Tourist board (HOST).

Chairman of Lochaber Enterprise, Drew McFarlane Slack, welcomed the new members and the experience they would bring to the board.

"The new directors bring a considerable amount of big business experience to the board of Lochaber Enterprise - experience that also comes with strong commitment to the Lochaber area. I am sure they will be an asset to the board.

"Christine has attended two meetings already and is making a valuable contribution to the board's discussions. It is great to have a young person's perspective and I have no doubt that the experience will set her in good stead for her chosen career."
