| Broadband bus stops off in Ross-shire | |
| 03 February 2005 Businesses and community groups were given the opportunity to hop on board the broadband delivery bus when it visited Alness, Dingwall and Ullapool for a three-day trip to Ross-shire. The purpose of the bus tour was to demonstrate the benefits of faster internet connection through broadband. Sixty-three people attended the events, which were organised by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and Ross and Cromarty Enterprise (RACE), last month. The single-decker bus, which was on loan from Glenrothes College in Fife, has 10 computer units and desks and the hourly sessions involved demonstrations and exercises led by a tutor. The bus visited Redshank House at Alness Point, then Ross County Football Club and finished off the three-day tour at the MacPhail Centre in Ullapool. Margaret Mackenzie, advice and information officer at RACE, said: "This was a very successful event and the great turnout demonstrated just how much interest there is from Ross-shire businesses and community groups to make the most of internet technology." | |
