Western Isles Enterprise (WIE) has appointed a new head for its strengthening communities team.

Norman A Macdonald started work with the local enterprise company this week.

Mr Macdonald, who represents Uig as a member of Western Isles Council, has considerable experience of community projects on the islands, including the Valtos Trust and the Uig Shop.

He was a director of the WIE board until earlier this year.
