Ministry of Defence announces staffing reduction at RAF Lossiemouth
20 September 2004

Following today's announcement from the Ministry of Defence that it is proposing to move 340 military personnel jobs and cut 50 civilian posts at RAF Lossiemouth, Douglas Yule, chief executive of Moray Badenoch and Strathspey Enterprise, said:

"Naturally, the local enterprise company is very concerned with this announcement from the Ministry of Defence.

"What's being proposed is a four-year programme, so we do have some time available to work with RAF Lossiemouth and our local partners to minimise the effect of any job losses and assist civilian workers who may face redundancy.

"If, indeed, these jobs do go, then our goal must be to ensure that we find ways to retain the people and the skills they have, for the benefit of Moray."
