| City of Inverness web site is launched in River Ness | |
| 30 August 2004 Inverness and Nairn Enterprise's (INE's) Hawaii 4-0 raft team brought a little sunshine to The Great River Ness Raft and Duck Race on Saturday (28/8) to promote surfINverness at www.inverness-scotland.com - the newly launched web site for Inverness. The web site is part of a branding campaign aimed at improving the image Inverness projects to the outside world, which has been developed by the City of Inverness Marketing Group (CIMG), with the backing of INE and The Highland Council. The new site, which went live on Friday, makes use of the new branding, with sections including welcomeINverness, newsINverness, travelINverness, dineINverness, and exploreINverness. CIMG co-ordinator Jean Ramsay Smith said: "The City of Inverness Marketing Group are delighted with the new website. It is not only fresher and easier to use for locals and visitors alike, but it will also reinforce the qualities of Inverness that are positive, memorable and attractive. It's another way to show why we are different from other cities - and why Inverness is a very special place to work, live in or visit." Captain of the raft team Ian Thorburn, business development manager at INE, said: "While hoping to emulate Mathew Pinsent and the coxless four's gold medal experience in Athens, we thought a Hawaiian theme, including garlands and grass skirts, would bring a little light-hearted fun to the show. "We were also pleased to have the opportunity to let people know that they can find out more about Inverness on the new website, and of course to support Children 1st, the charity behind the event, in their endeavours." Ian was assisted by Lindsey Moodie, Carol Fraser and Joanne Steven, all from INE. | |
