| 22 March 2004 Donnie MacDonald stands down as a Ross and Cromarty Enterprise (RACE) director this week. Donnie was appointed to the RACE Board in 1995. He was born in Alligin, Torridon, Wester Ross where he still lives with his wife Ray. Donnie was educated at Invergordon Academy and then moved to the Glasgow area to take up professional studies at Stow College and Glasgow Nautical College. After returning to the West Coast, Donnie spent ten years working at the Howard Doris yard in Kishorn until he took up post as director and general manager of Highland Marine Limited. Donnie now works as a self-employed marine projects consultant and is chairman of Torridon Community Association and director of Strathcarron Project. Sally Cartwright, chairman of Ross and Cromarty Enterprise said: "Donnie's commitment to RACE and particularly Wester Ross has been outstanding. He was a highly regarded member of the board and his knowledge of the communities and economy of Wester Ross proved invaluable on many occasions. His input will be greatly missed." | |
