The board of Inverness and Nairn Enterprise (INE) has been strengthened with the appointment of four new directors, who attended their first board meeting earlier today (Thursday 29th January).

Joining the Local Enterprise Company's board is a former chief executive of INE, Fiona Larg, who was head of the agency from December 1990 to September 1998.  Based in Nairn, Fiona is currently employed by Vertex Data Science Ltd as a general manager.  A qualified chartered accountant, Fiona is also chair of Maggie's Highlands - a charity that fundraises for a cancer advice and support centre in Inverness - and is a director of the Spectrum Centre in the city.

Joining Fiona on the board is Iain Scott, chief operating officer with Westminster Healthcare in Inverness.  Originally from Edinburgh, Iain has over 24 years experience as an accountant and is currently responsible for a business with an annual turnover of £150 million.  Iain is also chairman of Scottish Care, a position he has held for the past three years.

Also joining the INE board is Professor Alexander Munro a native of the Black Isle.  Professor Munro is a retired consultant surgeon, having held the post at Raigmore Hospital since 1978.  He is also a Professor of Clinical Surgery at Aberdeen University, where he has lectured since 2002.

The fourth new INE director is local solicitor Christopher Silver.  Owner of Highland Property Search - a business he set up in 1996 - Christopher previously worked for the former Highland Regional Council as deputy director of Law and Administration.  Christopher is a founder member of the Friends of Eden Court, secretary of the Inverness Burns Club and chair of the Highlands Classic Motor Club.

Welcoming the new recruits, INE chairman, Ken Mackie said: "I am delighted to welcome the four new Directors to their first board meeting today.  Collectively they bring a wealth of experience to the table, and I am sure they will enable us to build on our achievements to date as we seek to create a world class area to live and work in".
